Better Results with Reset Procedures
This quarter brought some much desired improvements to the way in which CYTK understands and processes requests, most notably Engine Oil Light Reset procedures. Not only are there a number of digitized indicator and sensor-driven features in modern cars, but OEMs haven’t quite standardized what the procedures to reset them are called. Additionally, manufacturers may have changed the name of the indicators with new model years. This caused a bit of confusion with CYTK!
We did some good work in the backend by broadening the search parameters for users asking for engine light reset or maintenance lamp reset procedures, as well as taught CYTK to look in different areas of MOTOR’s data to find potential matches. The results are either more hits when requested, or additional information asked by CYTK to get you to the right procedure.
Metric Units
You asked, we listened. CYTK now shows both Imperial and Metric Units in specifications.
Broadened Word Recognition
Though there is a lot of work being done as I write this to continue to help CYTK match on broader automotive terms, this quarter’s releases included improvements to the NLU to help things like: differentiating between Reset and Relearn procedures; weeding out non-specific words, such as “system”, in verbal requests; better matches for the various ways our users ask for Engine Oil Capacity specifications; and more.

Additional Content Improvements
The Data Science and Machine Learning team is working on a few big issues right now, including: improving CYTK’s ability to recognize synonyms for automotive terms; improving the indexing in our Elastic Search service, which will further improve matching results to requests; and opening up additional pathways to MOTOR’s data.
New Curated Quick Views
Our current target market is all of you quick service and Maintenance and Light Repair folks, and with the success of the Quick Service Summary, we’re creating curated Quick Views for things like Brakes and TPMS. You can look forward to easy lists of the most frequent specs and procedures for the variety of manufacturers that drive in to your bay for routine maintenance.
New App User Interface
We’ve revamped the User Interface for CYTK and brought a more effective and efficient look and feel to the app. It’s likely to hit during Q1 of 2022, so stay tuned!
Looking Forward!
