Features & Bug Fixes
Improved Onboarding, Help & VIN Scan Process
Both native app experiences have been updated with guidance on how to use our latest killer feature, the Keyword Search, for automotive repair information. This guidance comes in the form of a one-time Coachmark slideshow the first time you drop a vehicle into context. Should be very helpful for first-time users!
Additionally, we added a robust Help menu accessible from the top-right menu in the app once you’ve loaded a vehicle into context. The new Help menu includes a couple of our infographics, our latest Demo video, a comprehensive easy-to-read FAQ and links to drop us a line.
Both apps include improved user feedback in the form of a loading animation when CYTK is busy processing a VIN Scan. We have a little more work to do on this feature in iOS, though, and will update the process in the very near future so it’s clearer when CYTK is working in the background. Stay tuned for that!
What’s new in Content & Machine Learning
Features & Bug Fixes
Clearer Wiring Diagrams & Technical Service Bulletins
With the addition of Wiring Diagrams and Technical Service Bulletins that we released this past March with the new car repair information Keyword Search, we realized that the defining at-a-glance information needed more of a kick. So, this release adds the Bulletin number and Date of release to the summary list when you search for TSBs.
Additionally, now if no results are found when searching in TSBs, CYTK will just return them all sorted by the most recent bulletin.
For Wiring Diagrams, the detail view now has better information so it’s clear what diagram content you clicked in to from the summary view. More news is good news here!
To better display a lot of information in a mobile interface, we streamlined Fluid Type and Fluid Capacity spec information by clearing up the response in our Specifications views. Because we include both metric and imperial capacity units, our Fluid Type responses became a bit unruly by returning both Capacity and Type when requesting just Type.
So, now if you’re looking for a car’s Air Conditioning Fluid Type, CYTK will deliver clear type information, or when you search for Engine Oil Capacity, CYTK returns just that. Check it out by searching for something like “air conditioning fluid type” and selecting Specifications, or using one of the handy Specification views from the app’s bottom menu.
Coming Soon!
Automotive Search Engine Improvements
The Data Science and Machine Learning team is working on a few big issues right now, the most notable being improving the Keyword Search feature to broaden CYTK’s vocabulary of automotive term synonyms.
Additionally, the search will undergo fuzzy and partial match improvements for a more flexible, real-world search and better results.
New Content! Automotive Parts Vector Illustrations
We are adding a figures drawer to the Parts & Labor views that will include Parts Vector Illustrations! You’ll be able to click in and pinch and zoom like the rest of our images. Look for this near the end of Q2.
Thank you all for your interest in CYTK and please don’t hesitate to send your questions and comments to us at hello@cytk.io.
Looking Forward!
